Technically pigs are traditional in Hellenic/Mycenaean stories as well with the witch Circe and Odysseus’ crew so either form works for western stories. But a pig would indeed have caused a lot more issues and we do NOT want to turn anything REMOTELY hostile into a boar because those things can do stupid amounts of damage.
Also Yuki’s weight of presence getting thrown around again with Inari basically saying “I didn’t kill him because it was gonna be a hassle but now that Mom’s in this mess he won’t raise a fuss”. Combined with the earlier smack down of the random spirit claiming to be Amaterasu and I’m curious just how many reveals we’re looking to get by the end of this. Bonus points if Inari just starts calling Phil and Kate aunt/uncle by the end of this whole affair because they saved his bacon (twice now) and have a kind of thing with his mom.
At this point I don’t know if Japan is going to honor Phil and Kate, ban them from the country, or maybe both because their trips have been ANYTHING but calm but they’ve greatly mitigated the damage and technically solved more problems than they caused.
