Wait, aside from what Shiden just pointed out: are Lien & Toyoko present as well right now? Could they be recording things for later should a Senator successfully have the cameras turned off and the live feed cut? Or would Shiden not do that?
Fairly certain that if Shiden wouldn’t, Lien would. She takes her job as head of security very serious.
Senate hearings is something we don’t suffer from (but there is a public panel for internal critique of elected politicians). To me, it could as well be Outsider meetings.
Plus that little deal that a senator shouting ‘shut off those cameras!’ is such a blatant red flag that they’re trying to cover up something detrimental to them that anyone seeing it would go ‘oh yeah he’s corrupt and something shady is going on!’
I know this senator is a one-dimensional parody, but for some reason I love it. This is a character you can almost instantly love to hate, and not feel too bad about it as he gets served his dose of humble pie. Well done designing him, it fits perfectly.
I associate walrus moustaches with the era of Stalin and Marx (Groucho), but trying to remember those ugly (and funny) growths I came up with an image of the militant John Bolton. So there’s that.
Shiden for president? I mean, if there are three words that get people in the US pumped, it’s ‘blew up terrorists’. Add in ‘magical’ and ‘floating island’ and you have a 2 term presidency right there.
