If it were done with magic, Phil couldn’t have as much fun, he’d be able to see through it. Could even ruin certain things, at least for the murder mystery roleplay. Imagine they have actors doing things in the fog to cast spells or move things around and the fog is magical. Everyone else is having fun, Phil is just watching people running around like they cant be seen…
She knows her husband researches things far too thoroughly to have missed something like that.
Also, Kate’s going to have a moment soon where she thinks “my husband” and I am sure she will be giggly-happy for the rest of the day because of it.

Phil on a themed cruise where they use magic to set up the mystery would be like those episodes of detective series where the main character happens to stay at a murder mystery event and solves it within the first ten minutes.
Wouldn’t he only negate it if it’s perceived as an attack?
