The best part… Even if he did miss he would have still likely killed them all, definitely 2 of them. It’s like throwing giant water balloons, even if you miss, someone is getting wet. Except it’s acid, so there’s that.

So Roland must have a 20 in intelligence. Alchemists add their intelligence modifier to to the damage of their splash weapons, so he rolled a 2 for damage, and a 20 is a +5 modifier, so 7, and then another 5 to the other goblins (should actually be 6 because they’d already take 1 from the regular splash). Great opening move anyway.
