As a child whose mother can punish you regardless of your age, you should quickly learn not to mess with her friends. Shame it took you that long to realize that she considers them friends, instead of offering them a Kitsune-Style favour.
Whoops, looks like Inari didn’t quite finish his little errand fast enough. I’m assuming that Yuki merely caught up on her own but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Kate sent some kind of signal and then intentionally kept him talking long enough for Yuki to arrive.
Now we see if she does the scolding path to discipline him or if she plays up the “my little kit, look how big you’ve gotten” angle to embarrass Inari into better behavior. Also on a strictly intellectual side I’m curious if Inari prefers they/them pronouns, pronouns by the apparent gender of their current body, prefers set pronouns, or some mixture (like say prayers and formal requests use they them but face to face interaction uses gendered pronouns by form). Pretty sure it’s not directly important but I’m curious.
Now I’m just waiting for the “Awww mom, you’re embarassing me in front of the mortals!” moment.
