Correctly speaking, since all the ‘droids are female, they are gynoids. Androids are ‘male’, gynoids are ‘female.
Yeah, I’ve heard this before and it’s still not true. Androids are humanoid robots, the root being greek for male has nothing to do with it’s use. I’m fine with people correcting me when I have an actual error, but this is not an error.
Absolutely right! A word’s current use and meaning is not rigidly tied to its component root words. Also the term “gyniod” tends to get associated more with works featuring “pleasure-bots” and so it may not fit with the overall tone of the comic
