The sun in his eyes, Amaterasu?

I was thinking celestial but yeah Amaterasu makes a lot more sense for a Japanese mystic meant to corral the spirits of the islands. Though honestly with Yuki being a celestial kitsune and us seeing an Atlantean celestial it’s entirely possible that powerful kami could be celestial in nature and that takamagahara could just be the celestial realm by a different name and the current saint is a Japanese priestess.

Always fun to see what observations can spark off from other comments and I think I’ll at least assume the Amatsukami are Celestials unless otherwise stated by Sage in commentary or the comic.

Well no, we know in this series that for example Yuki was a enshrined kami before getting invited to the celestial realm. The lore so far just shows that most gods and other kami are powerful spirits or other supernatural entities. But nothing says they must go to the divine plane. A lot probably do, but like this spirit is a kami yet seems to not be conected to the divine realm.
